Pack 828,
Last Pack Meeting of the school year is this Thursday and it’s a big one! We’ll have our Tiger cub advancement experience, ice cream treats, and some super special activities! Also an open invitation to any Twin Creeks boys that want to join Pack 828 next year, especially those boys currently in Kindergarten that can be Tigers next year. Invite your friends!
Also this weekend is Twin Creeks School Beautification Day. It is tradition that each year our pack participates in the school’s beautification day as part of our pack service project. Please take a moment to see the attached sign up genius. I greatly encourage you to come help even if it is for an hour or two. The school really needs some dads with power tools to steps up and help install backpack hooks for all the classrooms. Let’s show our support as a pack!! Thank you in advance for joining and helping. Look forward to seeing you there!

Wow, another Pinewood Derby has come and gone. There were some great cars this year both in speed and design! We have some great creativity in the Pack; the rocket car, the turtle, the 828 car, the Tanks, clown car, iPhone, a panda, the Batmobile, the light-up streaker, the Mom Mobile! So many great cars!
We had some stunning races and surprise endings, and some great sportsmanship. It really stood out how the kids supported each other, cheered each other on, and consoled hard losses. Major thanks to all the parents who helped out, especially our last-minute projector providers!
Got pics of the derby? Post them to our Facebook site. Click the Facebook logo at the top of the page.
Here’s an album of our speed winners.

Hello PACK 828 Parents,
Our next pack meeting will be Thurs Feb 16th from 6-8:00 as Pack 828 holds its annual Blue & Gold Potluck Dinner.
In 1933 “Cub Leaders’ Round Table” suggested Parent / Cub dinners. Soon thereafter, Pack 1 of Michigan City started a tradition of pot-lucks where the dads were to bring utensils made of wood; whittled by the Cub with his dad. In the 1930s father / son ‘bean dinners’ and ‘Cub family dinners’ began to become commonplace. Finally, in 1943 the name “Blue and Gold Banquet” first appeared in BSA literature, and became synonymous with “celebrating the birthday of Scouting.”
Today, the Blue and Gold banquet is one of the highlights of the program year. It brings together your Pack’s families for a dinner and an evening of fun. The meal is important, but even more important is the warm, congenial atmosphere created as families enjoy each other’s company.
We will still be doing an opening and closing ceremony and handing out awards and this year Jeremy the Juggler will be back to entertain us all. PLEASE, PLEASE RSVP on the Sign Up Genius link that has gone out to all dens. If you have not received it yet please see the link below. You can look forward to a fun, social evening celebrating the core values of scouting.

Pinewood Derby Time! Come start on your car at Mr. Trager’s house!
He has the tools, you bring your car, a parent, and creativity!
This Saturday, 1/28 – 9am – 1pm, 512 Estancia Court
Hey Pack!
This Thursday, 1/19/2012 is our first pack meeting of 2012!
A little change up this time, because of a city meeting in the new MPR, we will be in the old MPR in the front of the school. Please keep in mind that because of this other meeting the campus will be crowded with people unfamilar to Twin Creeks Elementary, and parking will be sparse.
Please come early to get parking.
Thanks!
Grab your jingle bells and come caroling with the pack!
Pack 828 will be Christmas caroling at Valley Vista Senior Housing – Thursday, December 8th at 5:00 pm.
Address:
20709 San Ramon Valley Blvd
San Ramon, CA 94583
We will gather at 4:45pm in the parking lot at Valley Vista Senior Housing. (Please make every effort to arrive on time for we expect to have a sizable showing).
Warm up your vocal cords and be ready to share with the residents a few songs of Christmas joy.
Look forward to seeing you on Thursday, December 8th.
Remember Pack Meeting tomorrow!
Also, a note from our Scouting For Food coordinator, Jessica Sinclair:
Just a reminder that our last day of Scouting for Food is Saturday, November 19th at 9:00 am
Pack 828 has always had huge participation in this event and this year we want to strive for 100% participation!
Thank you to the 10 scouts and 10 parents who showed up to hang the door hangers and supervise last Saturday. Although it was partly cloudy, the sun peeking through made the walk enjoyable for everyone! The Bears had the biggest turn out with 4 scouts participating!
Awesome job scouts!
Come join us this Saturday to do an amazing community service and have a fun couple of hours with some great people! Any amount of time you can devote is appreciated!
The details are……
Date / Time: Saturday, November 19th @ 9:00 am
Location: Meet at Twin Creeks (in front of school)
What: Hot cocoa, coffee, and donuts (4 doz. appx.) will be provided.
***Bring your own mugs if possible***
How: Each den will canvas specific areas in the Twin Creeks neighborhood to collect the food
Dress: Please have the boys dress in their Class A blue uniforms
We will also need parental help to supervise each den and shuttle food.
**Have a wagon we can borrow? It’s nice to have one per den to carry food, so let me know**
I would appreciate RSVP’s with your cub’s level (Tiger, Wolf, etc.) so I can determine which areas each den will cover and how many donuts to get.
See you on Saturday!
Thanks,
Jessica Sinclair
